Non-alcoholic beer is often used by people who, for some reason, cannot afford to drink a classic foamy drink. Despite some undeniable advantages, sometimes this alcohol-free drink is harmful to the human body.
How is non-alcoholic beer produced?
Non-alcoholic beer is made using several rules:
- Stopping the fermentation process. Thanks to this, the amount of alcohol in the drink is reduced. The resulting drink has a different taste and structure from the classic drink.
- Dealcoholization. Using this technique, alcohol molecules are evaporated from the finished product through complex double filtration. In this case, the original structure and bitter taste are preserved.
- Fermentation. This method involves sharp cooling of the resulting product, as a result of which the destruction of the yeast begins.
Is it possible to normalize low blood pressure with alcohol?
If wine and vodka products increase blood pressure, then there is an assumption that they can be used to alleviate the condition of clients with manifestations of hypotension. But even in this case, no benefit should be expected. Alcohol at low pressure can have the opposite effect, or instead of leveling off, a sharp jump upward.
The subsequent hypertensive state in hypotensive patients is much more difficult to tolerate than in patients with hypertension, and the crisis much more often ends in complications, including fatal ones. You should remember this. Vodka, cognac, wine, beer, etc. dangerous not only for hypertensive patients, but also for people with low blood pressure.
As you can see, there is no benefit from drinking alcohol. It is always more difficult for narcotics doctors to remove people suffering from hypertensive manifestations from binge drinking. Their withdrawal symptoms are always more pronounced and last longer. Therefore, people with a tendency to hypertension should avoid drinking in every possible way.
And treatment for both chronic alcoholism and the combination of this disease with diseases of the cardiovascular system should only be under the supervision of a doctor. Is it possible to drink beer with high blood pressure?
It would seem that if beer in moderate doses reduces blood pressure, then it is even beneficial for hypertensive patients. However, not all so simple.
For people with high blood pressure, doctors usually prescribe medications to keep it within normal limits. If the tablets are enclosed in a special shell, it means that they are designed for gradual absorption. Alcohol dissolves the tablet shell, and the drugs are absorbed into the blood much faster. Instead of a therapeutic effect, a sharp intoxication of the body occurs, and the side effects of the drug significantly increase.
Beer combined with medications to lower blood pressure can cause dizziness, nausea, loss of consciousness and even a stroke. Therefore, those who constantly take antihypertensive drugs will have to give up beer altogether, even non-alcoholic beer (it also contains small amounts of ethyl alcohol).
But even if a hypertensive patient does not take medications, he should treat beer with extreme caution. When drinking this drink, you need to consider that:
- beer causes appetite, and overeating leads to obesity;
- almost all products that are customary to snack on beer: dried or smoked fish, crackers, chips, nuts, smoked cheese, salted or pickled vegetables contain a lot of salt, which increases blood pressure;
- It is especially dangerous to drink beer in the heat, when the risk of a hypertensive attack is already high.
The harm of non-alcoholic beer
The alcohol-free foamy drink contains less hops, and this significantly reduces its negative impact on the liver.
The harm of non-alcoholic beer for men
Uncontrolled consumption of the product will negatively affect the entire body. First of all, testosterone levels will decrease and the amount of estrogen (female hormone) will increase. As a result, the fat layer will thicken and high notes will appear in the voice.
The harm of non-alcoholic beer for women
After drinking the drink, the male hormone begins to be actively produced in the female body. Beer also provokes the growth of facial hair (especially above the upper lip) and affects the timbre of the voice, making it low.
Antibiotics and non-alcoholic beer
A sunny drink containing small doses of alcohol can still weaken the effect of medications and sometimes cause side effects. Mixing the components of medications and alcohol is strictly prohibited. Even low levels of ethanol in a product can affect the metabolism and activity of antibiotics.
Is non-alcoholic beer harmful to the liver?
The human liver is a vital iron for the body, which performs many functions and is a natural filter. Protects against the harmful effects of alcohol and various toxins. The functioning of the organ will be impaired if it is frequently exposed to a drink.
Non-alcoholic beer if you have illnesses
Contraindications for use:
- pancreatitis;
- prostatitis;
- haemorrhoids;
- liver abnormalities;
- pregnancy;
- lactation.
For pancreatitis
The presence of gastrointestinal pathologies does not simply limit the use of the product, but completely eliminates it. Even a small dose of the drink can irritate the pancreas and provoke a worsening of the disease.
For prostatitis
If the treatment of a disease is accompanied by the use of medications, in this case it is better to avoid drinking. The components that make up non-alcoholic beer, albeit in smaller quantities, have an adverse effect on the male body.
For hemorrhoids
If you regularly drink when you have abnormal growths in the rectum, you can cause complications. The problem lies in the negative effect of beer components on the anal mucosa. It is aggravated by an increase in the amount of carbon dioxide in the body.
Non-alcoholic beer and pregnancy
While pregnant and breastfeeding, even a drink with low alcohol content is strictly prohibited. Although it contains a smaller amount of hops, this component will still have a negative effect on the fetus developing in the womb of a woman.
Alcohol lowers or raises blood pressure
To understand how alcohol actually affects blood pressure (BP), you need to look at the problem from different angles.
In an ordinary person who does not suffer from addiction and hypertension, any alcohol-containing drink a few minutes after entering the stomach in a small dose leads to a slight decrease in blood pressure.
This effect causes:
- The toxic effect of ethanol on the brain centers responsible for regulating the tone of arterial vessels. A kind of temporary paralysis (from 15 minutes to 2-3 hours) of the muscular walls of arteries, arterioles and capillaries relaxes them and increases the intravascular lumen.
- Reducing the release of adrenaline and other substances that cause vascular spasm. A person who drinks feels this effect as general relaxation, pleasant warmth in the body, and calmness.
If the matter does not end with one dose, then after a while the opposite reaction develops.
Changes lead to:
- Contraction of the muscular walls of blood vessels receiving impulses from the central nervous system.
- Activation of the release of excess amounts of adrenaline, causing vascular spasm.
- An increase in the number of heart contractions with the introduction of additional doses of blood from the organs into the bloodstream, which ensures an increase in blood pressure.
In the presence of chronic alcoholism, almost all patients have a variety of cardiac pathologies.
The most common:
- alcoholic cardiomyopathy;
- cardiovascular failure;
- cardiac ischemia;
- tachycardia syndrome and other types of arrhythmias.
Each of these problems plays a direct or indirect role in the formation of high blood pressure, which contributes to the background that provokes the development of hypertension.
Jumps caused by binge drinking or withdrawal symptoms are especially dangerous. In this case, patients may develop severe complications.
These include:
- Hypertensive crises are long-term and sudden cases of drug-resistant rise in blood pressure.
- Transient ischemic attacks are transient disturbances in the nutrition of certain areas of the brain, causing temporary memory loss, paresis, speech impairment, and loss of motor functions.
- Types of ischemic strokes - accompanied by cessation of blood circulation in the tissues of the central nervous system, and leading to serious defects.
- Myocardial infarction is the death of areas of the heart muscle, causing partial or complete loss of the pumping function of the heart.
- Arrhythmias, manifested by extrasystoles - extraordinary and unproductive contractions of the heart muscle, tachycardia (rapid heartbeat), sometimes bradycardia (slowing of beats).
Consequences for the female body
The harm of beer to the female body is a deterioration in reproductive function, hormonal imbalance, liver damage, obesity and a sharp deterioration in appearance. We must not forget the fact that women become drunk about three times faster than men.
Regular consumption of beer leads to obesity (especially considering that people prefer to drink the foamy drink with chips, crackers, and nuts). The harm of beer for a woman is manifested in the following:
- excess weight with rapid growth in the abdomen and waist (so-called visceral fat is deposited, that is, internal fat that interferes with the normal functioning of organs);
- reproductive function is impaired;
- menstrual irregularities, gastrointestinal disorders occur, gynecological problems worsen;
- a masculine appearance is acquired, facial features become coarser;
- waist disappears;
- the amount of hair on the face and body increases;
- the skin becomes sluggish, flabby, wrinkled, capillary breaks and spider veins appear;
- The likelihood of developing breast and genital cancer increases significantly due to serious hormonal imbalances.
If a nursing mother drinks beer regularly, the baby may experience epileptic seizures.
Why beer is dangerous for teenagers
Unfortunately, teenage alcoholism often begins with beer. For a developing organism, any alcohol-containing drinks are very dangerous. For example, light filtered beer is practically devoid of characteristic bitterness, is very easy to drink, but quickly causes intoxication. Its consequences for a fragile organism can be very different. For example, it has been proven that excessive beer consumption in adolescence can cause ulcers, diabetes, and myocarditis.
But the worst thing is that the psyche, which in adolescents is not yet fully formed, comes under attack. A young man who likes to spend the evening with a glass of “foam” gradually degrades, becomes asocial, and can easily fall under the influence of criminal elements.
Composition and beneficial properties
The history of brewing is so ancient that no one knows for sure how it arose or what technology the first farmers used to brew their mash. But the fact that it was they who invented the intoxicating drink, and beer has existed for as many centuries as bread, is considered obvious.
In the European tradition, the basis of malt wort, which is fermented with brewer's yeast and the addition of hops, is barley.
There are varieties where barley malt is completely or partially replaced by other cereals: rice, rye, corn. High-quality beer contains useful substances:
- Microelements. Barley enriches the liquid with minerals: magnesium, potassium, phosphorus. During the fermentation process, iron, chromium, and silicon enter the drink.
- Vitamins. The content of vitamins C, PP is the same as in juices; B vitamins are present.
- Organic acids. They inhibit the development of pathogenic microorganisms, for example, Helicobacter Pylori, a bacterium that causes stomach ulcers.
Water accounts for 90%, the remaining 10% of the composition is almost half distributed between healing and harmful components. Beer contains from 3 to 6% ethyl alcohol. With excessive and frequent consumption, the beneficial effects of the drink are completely neutralized by the destructive effects of alcohol.
Hypertension and treatment of hypertension in alcoholism
Hypertension is a disease that requires constant monitoring by specialists, as well as treatment, which will be selected by a doctor after a comprehensive examination of the body. Neglect of one's health can be disastrous for an alcoholic.
Timely seeking help for hypertension can stabilize the condition of an alcoholic through a course of therapy in a medical center under the supervision of specialists.
