What products thin the blood and prevent the formation of blood clots - a list of the 24 most effective

What should be meant by the term “thick blood”? This is a high concentration of formed elements (red blood cells, leukocytes, platelets), combined with excess sugar, cholesterol, and lipids.

All this together provokes an increase in the activity of cell membranes, which is why the same red blood cells and platelets literally “stick together,” thereby forming blood clots. And the main reason for too “thick blood” is unhealthy food in the diet.

What products help thin the blood in the human body and prevent the formation of blood clots? Using information from official medical sources, we have compiled a list of 24 most suitable foods for this purpose, and also formulated general nutritional rules. At the end of the article we will talk about foods that, on the contrary, thicken the blood.

Cardiomagnyl

This drug contains two active substances: magnesium hydroxide and acetylsalicylic acid. Aspirin inhibits platelet aggregation and blocks thromboxone synthesis. And magnesium hydroxide protects the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract from the aggressive effects of acetylsalicylic acid. Cardiomagnyl is prescribed for the prevention of heart attack and stroke, thrombosis and angina. Cardiomagnyl is also taken by those patients who have already had a heart attack in order to prevent another. The medicine is sold without a prescription. The price of Cardiomagnyl is about 116 rubles for 30 tablets.

The principle of creation at home

Considering that preparing tomato juice is not a complex high-tech process, you can easily create the drink yourself. In order to get a liter of healthy nectar you will need overripe fleshy tomatoes (1.5 kg), sugar (15 g) and salt (3 g). Moreover, the amount of fresh tomatoes directly depends on the required volume of the drink. It is advisable to select them yourself, focusing on the color and taste of the product. Both a juicer and a meat grinder with a fine nozzle are suitable as a device for processing fruits.

Let's prepare homemade nectar for the winter (step by step):

  1. Cut the washed tomatoes into small slices (4-6 parts).
  2. Grind the tomatoes in a meat grinder or juicer. If you don’t have kitchen equipment, squeeze the nectar through a sieve. If the puree turns out to be of uneven texture, the procedure must be done again.
  3. Pour the vegetable puree into a fireproof container, place on the stove, and bring to a boil. In this case, we can the fruit drink.
  4. Add sugar and salt to the mixture. After boiling, remove foam from the surface. To add a piquant taste, you can add your favorite spices (basil, onion, garlic, black pepper) to the drink. The taste of homemade preparations can be both sweet and salty, spicy and sour.
  5. Prepare the jars. To do this, thoroughly rinse the glass container with soda and then inspect it for cracks. After this, sterilize the jars on the grill of a pressure cooker, in a preheated oven (at a temperature of 150 degrees) or over a pan of boiling water. The processing time for one-liter jars is 15 minutes, two-liter jars – 20 minutes, three-liter jars – 25 minutes.
  6. Boil the mixture for 2-3 minutes over high heat, then turn the flame down to low. Simmer the tomato juice for another 15 minutes (stirring constantly).
  7. Pour the finished concentrate into warm sterile jars and roll up.

Cool the workpieces under a thick blanket, after turning them upside down. If traces of liquid are visible on the floor, the cover should be replaced. After complete cooling, the canned tomato is removed to a cool place: a cellar, an insulated balcony or a basement.

Aegitromb

“Egithromb” is usually used to prevent complications from heart attack, stroke, arterial occlusive disease, acute coronary syndrome, angina pectoris and atrial fibrillation. The active ingredient of the drug is clopidogrel hydrosulfate. The drug binds perfectly to plasma proteins (94-98%). The therapeutic effect occurs within two hours after taking Egithromb. After 4-7 days of taking the drug, blood density indicators return to normal. The doctor may prescribe a blood thinner, depending on the severity of the disease, from several days to six months. The price of “Egitromba” is about 883 rubles for 28 tablets.

Fish

Salmon

Fatty sea fish can help in the fight against blood clots. Do not be afraid of this fat - due to its high content of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, it only brings benefits: platelets lose the ability to adhere to each other, the process of their accumulation in the vessels is suppressed, the blood thins and blood clots dissolve.

To achieve this effect, you need to eat about half a kilo of sea fish a week, preferably wild, but almost all salmon today are raised on aqua farms and do not “fed up” much omega-3. Unfortunately, fish is the only source of those omega acids that help thin the blood. Therefore, if you cannot eat fish often, add natural fish oil or seaweed oil to your diet. The latter is equivalent in omega index to cooked fish - after all, fish synthesizes omega acids from algae.

Chime

The active substance of the drug is dipyridamole. “Curantil” helps improve venous and placental outflow, stabilizes blood pressure, dilates blood vessels, improves blood density, etc. “Curantil” is also an excellent immunomodulator that is used to prevent ARVI and influenza. The price of Kurantil is about 590 rubles for 120 tablets.

Chime
Berlin-Chemie (Berlin-Chemie), Germany

The antiplatelet effect of Curantil is associated with its ability to reduce the reverse transport of adenosine into cells, which leads to its accumulation in the extracellular space.
The direct antiplatelet effect of Curantil lies in its ability to increase the antiplatelet ability of PGE1 and suppress the activity of phosphodiesterase in platelets, resulting in the accumulation of cyclic AMP, which has a direct vasodilatory effect on the arteries of the heart, and the accumulation of thromboxane A2 leads to an increase in the lifespan of platelets, due to their reduction aggregation. from 472

What should you avoid?

But it’s not enough to just include food in your diet that will help thin your blood. You should also refuse (or rather, minimize their consumption) from those foods that contribute to blood thickening. These include:

  1. Almost all dairy products. Milk contains casein, which is a special carbohydrate that breaks down into derivative elements only under the action of certain groups of enzymes. Simply put, these are complex carbohydrates, which take many times longer to digest than fructose and other simple sugars. This is why dairy products thicken the blood.
  2. Alcoholic drinks. All of them contain ethyl alcohol, which is perceived by the body as poison. Its breakdown, neutralization and removal from the body is accompanied by the use of a huge volume of liquid (and this is why a person feels very thirsty after drinking alcohol). At the same time, alcohol increases blood viscosity exponentially. This is true even for small amounts of weak alcohol. At the same time, you should definitely avoid vodka and beer, which tend to thicken the blood. Use cognac with caution. But red wine has a special effect on the blood, which you can read about in a separate article.
  3. Animal fats. Pork, beef, sausage products - all contain animal fats that break down into lipid compounds. When there is an excess of them in the body, they are not absorbed, but are deposited in the subcutaneous tissue, as well as in the blood vessels themselves. You shouldn’t completely exclude animal fats from your diet, but it should still be based on grains, vegetables and fruits.
  4. Potato. In principle, absolutely all products that contain a large amount of starch (for example, rice) can be written here. It is transformed into carbohydrates in the body, which contributes to a sharp increase in sugar levels in the blood plasma and its thickening.
  5. Bananas. Although they are fruits, they contain a large amount of carbohydrates. If you do eat them, then no more than 2 medium-sized fruits per day (and even less for children).

Deplatte

The drug is prescribed for the prevention of ischemic stroke, heart attack, peripheral arterial occlusion, and atrial fibrillation. The active ingredient of the drug is clopidogrel. During treatment, doctors often use Deplatte together with acetylsalicylic acid to prevent the formation of blood clots in acute coronary syndrome. The price of “Deplatta” is about 439 rubles.

Blood thinner water

Water is the first and main solvent in the body. Lack of water affects blood volume - it decreases from the prescribed 5-6 liters to 4-4.5 liters of fluid. In order to replenish the volume of internal fluid, a drinking regime is prescribed - drink water in an amount of at least 2 liters per day. It is important to use it correctly: drink in small sips and always half an hour before meals.

Coffee is a diuretic, so lovers of a morning cup of an invigorating drink need an additional 0.5 liters of water per day to prevent blood clotting.

In addition to water, you can also drink freshly squeezed vegetable juices. They not only replenish fluid volume, but also initiate liver cleansing and subsequent blood cleansing, which means they normalize its composition.

During the digestion of food, internal fluid is spent on the synthesis of gastric juice. Therefore, they drink water before meals. If you drink liquid after eating, it is excreted along with the food bolus through the intestinal cavity and does not thin the blood.

Fresh fruit and vegetable juices additionally cleanse liver cells, especially apple, beet, and orange.

Human internal fluids are a solution of minerals (salts). Therefore, to thin the blood if you are prone to thrombosis, you need to drink salted water. This rule is the same for sick and healthy people, athletes, nursing or during pregnancy.

Trental

The main active ingredient of Trental is pentoxifyline. The drug reduces fibrinogen levels and leukocyte activity. "Trental" is prescribed for cerebral circulatory disorders, degenerative changes, diabetes, otosclerosis, poor blood circulation in the retina, trophic disorders and occlusive disease. For older people, this blood-thinning drug is prescribed for chronic peripheral circulatory disorders. The price of Trental is about 496 rubles for 60 tablets.

Vessel cleaning - what is it?

In official medical terminology, there is no such thing as “cleaning blood vessels” - this is everyday slang that is misleading and creates confusion. Unfortunately, it is impossible to remove cholesterol plaques that have already formed and clean a clogged vessel like a water pipe using a magic cleaning agent or “nanothreads”. An entire industry has already formed around the cleaning of blood vessels, however, the drugs and procedures that are offered to solve the problem do not have proven clinical effectiveness, the same applies to traditional methods. Restoring the functional state of the vascular endothelium is much more serious than detox, which is only appropriate for the primary prevention of vascular blockage. With atherosclerosis, when the vessels are narrowed by less than 50%, there is a risk of blood clots, heart attack or stroke

, the doctor prescribes drug therapy (
statins
,
calcium antagonists
and other drugs). However, they do not remove plaques, but compact them, thus increasing the lumen of the vessel. Therefore, it is extremely important to adhere to simple recommendations for the prevention of atherosclerosis.

In colloquial language, “cleaning” is also called cardiac surgery to expand a dangerously narrowed vessel - angioplasty, bypass surgery, stenting

. Their methods differ, but the essence is approximately the same: a catheter is inserted into the vessel, and the damaged, pathologically narrowed area is straightened and strengthened from the inside using implants - special rings, springs or tubes. The need for such operations arises if an atherosclerotic plaque closes the lumen of the vessel (artery) by more than 50%. When the blood supply is so disrupted, cells and organs are not supplied with oxygen and nutrients, and a person’s life can hang by a thread. It happens that a vessel or artery is blocked by a blood clot - a person suddenly feels very tired to the point of loss of consciousness, rapid heartbeat, suspicious pain (headaches, in the area of the heart), suffocates, and the skin turns pale. Such conditions are considered acute, and as a “cleansing” procedure, thrombolysis with special drugs is used on an outpatient basis. After stenting, bypass surgery or angioplasty, blood supply is restored, but it is necessary to take special medications and be observed by a cardiologist.

Clexane

The active substance of the drug is enoxaparin sodium. The main advantage of Clexane is its almost 100% bioavailability, because the drug is injected under the skin. The maximum concentration of the drug in the blood occurs after three to four hours. This anticoagulant is prescribed for the prevention and treatment of such diseases: acute heart attack, venous thrombosis and embolism. Clexane is sold by prescription and is used mainly in hospitals. If home treatment is necessary, the instructions provide step-by-step guidance. The price of Clexane is about 607 rubles per 0.6 ml.

Cassia or cinnamon

Spicy cassia

Some blood thinners are made with a substance called coumarin. Coumarin is found naturally in cinnamon. By the way, Chinese cinnamon or cassia has a much higher coumarin content than regular cinnamon. Add small amounts of the spice daily when preparing foods and drinks, but be careful if you use other natural blood thinners.

Wessel Due F

"Wessel Due F" is a natural preparation. Its active substances are sulodexide (a compound of the heparin-like fraction) and dermatan sulfate, isolated from the intestinal mucosa of pigs. The drug thins the blood and strengthens the walls of blood vessels. "Wessel Due F" is prescribed for acute ischemic stroke, microangiopathy, and lesions of peripheral arteries. Within 15 minutes after intramuscular or intravenous administration, the drug begins to work. The price of “Wessel Due F” is about 2,747 rubles.

Blood thinning for coronavirus

According to studies conducted in France and the Netherlands, approximately 20-30% of severely ill patients diagnosed with COVID-19 have thrombosis. Scientists have put forward several theories indicating the reasons for such changes in the blood, but there is no concrete evidence yet. However, anticoagulants are already beginning to be introduced into therapeutic regimens. If necessary, patients undergoing home treatment are also given instructions on how to thin the blood in the human body during coronavirus.

If blood clotting is high, including due to coronavirus infection, there may be a need for thinning agents. But you should not take medications without a doctor’s prescription. As a preventive measure, certain foods that have anticoagulant properties can be identified:

  • raspberries;
  • tomatoes;
  • ginger root;
  • cottonseed, linseed or olive oil;
  • persimmon;
  • seaweed;
  • garlic;
  • sea fish;
  • citrus.

Nutritionists recommend avoiding certain products on the menu if you have increased blood clotting. This group includes buckwheat, corn, bananas and cabbage. It is also worth limiting the consumption of walnuts, rowan berries, and nettles. All of these products can affect the blood, increasing its thickness and coagulability.

Fraxiparine

The active substance of the drug is nadroparin calcium (derived from heparin). The medicine effectively thins the blood and prevents the formation of blood clots because it binds well to plasma proteins. The bioavailability of the drug is approximately 98%; Fraxiparin is absorbed within three to five hours. This blood-thinning drug is prescribed for the treatment and prevention of thromboembolism, angina pectoris, and to prevent blood clotting during dialysis. The price of Fraxiparin is about 2,540 rubles for 10 syringes.
